1000 cows
« on: January 25, 2020, 07:16:42 PM »
As y'all know, I prefer to pretty much play the game "blind".  I read a little bit on Reddit sometimes, and between that and what I pick up here, I attempt to play the game.  So I'd heard that some kind of Super Diablo appears if/when you finally get the kill counter up to 1000.  I also heard that he can completely kick your ass, and has one-shot many characters.  Well, that doesn't actually sound like any fun, but I had to try it anyway.

I figured the best place to try to get a streak of 1000 kills was in Not The Cow Level, so I went for it.  Kinda cool, how he shows up.  Sorry, no screenies of that.  I was busy watching.  I got one quick screenie during the fight, spent a little time fighting him, then he wasted me with one shot.

Okay, he's resistant to all physical and elemental/magic/holy damage, and can one-shot kill you.  No, it wasn't fun.  After summoning him to satisfy my curiosity, then actually trying to fight him a few times, I gave up.

What was actually more fun was running around Not The Cow Level, clicking chests and dead farmers, then running back around to pick up my loot, all while trying to avoid Super Diablo.  He caught me a few times, but after running around and getting (I think) all my loot, I dashed back through the red portal, and called it even.  I wasn't gonna kill this guy.

So after years of buffing they want you to get to 990 kills then close the game?

Nice!  Sounds like you had fun with it which is the main thing. He certainly was a pain in the butt. When I fought him - in Not the Cow level - My whirly barb had done a GR 100 and could blow through T16. I still probably died 15-20 times before he ran out of hitpoints.

The part that disappointed me was that I didn't get any special drop from him. You'd think something would be in order, but naughta.

That would seriously suck, to go through all that, kill Super Diablo (since "Uber Diablo" has already been used) and not even got some kind of super amazing drop.

Yeah, he's a real treat on T16. I think it took me 5 minutes to kill him with my WW barb, and half of that time was spent under a shield pylon. I got a big pile of the organs that the ubers drop.

He was very easy on T6, although he quickly dispatched the guy I had just leveled to 70. Whoops! :D

Ah, it didn't even occur to me that his difficulty scales the same as other monsters.  Maybe I'll try again on like T6, not T16.

What are the rewards?

i'd assume he scales but remains disproportionately hard for whatever level you're trying him at. he dropped like a standard rift guardian at t13. an achievement for killing him at a certain level would've been a nice touch.

The rewards are all across the board. Sometimes you get drops similar to rift guardians like syn said, or sometimes you get GRift keys or organs that the ubers drop. The rewards are pretty underwhelming if you kill him at a high torment level IMO. It's a fun fight, but don't go into it looking for awesome drops.

That's kinda wacky.  I would expect that beating Super Diablo would be worth something really amazing.  They could include a nice assortment of stuff, like a Grift drop plus Hellfire stuff plus keys, all scaled appropriately (but still way high).  The crapshoot you describe doesn't actually sound very attractive since I found the fight to be anything but fun.  I mean, I don't think his health bar moved at all.  There's no way I was going to kill that guy in the next ten minutes, 24 hours, or year for that matter.

I like a good challenge, but when you're just plain outclassed a hundredfold, it's just not fun.  It's a waste of time.

Oh yeah, it was a novelty and I'm glad I did it, but I won't be doing it again unless they really boost the rewards.

People suggested having primals drop automatically from him, but that would probably "force" people to farm him nonstop for the guaranteed primals. There is probably a happy medium out there somewhere, but not what is currently in place.

Crap.  Got up to 452 cows, then ran into a patch I'd already covered and the cow counter ran out.

But speaking of 1000:

I don't remember if I've ever hit 1000 Paragon Points in a Season before.  But what the heck, I took a picture; might as well share it.

That is a lot of Paragon levels for one season.  I think I got up to 600 or so.  Rookie numbers.
