I don't know if I'm just imagining this or not, but enemies definitely feel more like bullet sponges than BL2. It feels like the heavy gunners just take ages to kill, and even regular enemies are taking entire clips of ammo to kill. I'll have a pack of guys around me, get in Iron Bear, and can only kill 4-5 normal enemies before my fuel runs out and I have to wait another 2 minutes for my cooldown.

Borderlands has always been a bullet spongey game.  You might be right about it being more so.  I am finding that bear with grenade launcher is working better for me.

Played it a bit during lunch paying more attention to the spongeyness.  And yes it is more spongey for me too.  But I have heard that some people have builds/equipment that is OP at this point. So it might be a matter of getting better stuff.  The guy I have played with also seems to have an easier time of things than I do.  So it might also be that Amara > Fl4k > Zane > Moze.  Amara and Fl4k are the ones who people are claiming are OP.

I am having an absolute blast with the game.  I think I am about 2/3 through the main story at this point.  I close to lvl 24 with Moze.

Story wise BL2 seems better at this point but that is mainly because of how epic Handsome Jack was a bad guy.  The story in this one is enjoyable enough.

Combat is really fun, though I do agree that they are very spongey.  No rabid skags and stalkers though, which is a good think in my book.  Holy cow I hated those things.

I decided to start a new character, after not really enjoying Moze initially. I decided to go with Amara, and am having a good time of it. I got to level 14 yesterday, and have progressed further than I did with Moze. I've been mainly using the Brawl skill tree, but I think I'm going to swap over to the elemental tree soon, as I'm finally getting some decent weapons with elemental damage on them.

I'm definitely enjoying the game - just wish I had more time to play it!

I get the bit about enough time.  I finally got some time in this weekend.

You'll need to find this weapon for your Siren...

Level 27 and rolling along.  Still having a good old time.  Supposedly I am about 2/3 through the first play through.

I've hit level 35 I think.  About to go into one of the bigger boss fights on Eden-6.  I'm still enjoying the game and I finally got to meet Ice T's character.  Some pretty funny shit with that sequence.  I am a couple of levels away from getting the Demolition Capstone.  Then I can go back to Shield of Retribution tree.

So I just got to the Pain and Terror boss fight.  Holy crap that is a frustrating fight.  I've now died about 10 tens.  Three times in the final stages of the fight, a bit frustrating.

About to hit level 40 and I am not done with the first play through.  I think that is awesome.  It should be possible to be almost max level after one play through.  Then the second play through you are can be mostly focused on gearing up.  It seems the game also has a concept similar to paragon levels.  Not there yet and I am trying not to read to much about the game until I complete my first play through.
