Not a series that I have ever been able to get into.  I have yet to figure out why it is so beloved.

So ... like a fungus ... it grows on you until you become part of the organism.

it's like star wars or trek. if you watched it growing up, it's probably stuck with you. without that attachment, it's probably harder to get into. Who's been around for over 50yrs now... big fan base due to longevity if nothing else.

we bought the new season on appletv but have yet to watch the premier. was able to get my wife hooked on it during tennant's run and then with smith, tho we both fell away for capaldi. cautiously optimistic for the new season.

I found the first two episodes enjoyable but it deteriorated after that.
Not so much because of the new Doctor, but the plots were just... off.

Ditto.

I never watched Dr Who before this season - so I can't compare it against any other season or Doctor - but I have a good friend that has watched forever. Thought I'd give it a go this season and like Silverthorn, quite enjoyed the first couple of episodes and hoping the last couple were just a dip blip and it gets back on track this week.

Ugh, most of the current season has been underwhelming compared to the past.  Should be able to see the finale in a few hours.  Fell asleep briefly on the penultimate.  All that random and unexplained stuff about Brendan didn't help.

I recently ran through all the modern season of Dr. Who cause a buddy is a huge fan and I thought I'd give it a go prior to the the reboot last year.

Compared to the previous seasons, he and I both were quite underwhelmed by the first season. This year, the show fell back on more tried and true characters and villains and we both were far more impressed with season 2. Still a rung or 2 below the previous doctors. Didn't love the new Doctor although we didn't dislike her either, less love for the new companions and no chemistry between the companions and the Doctor. But the worst part of season one was the plots. Better in season 2, but still the characters and lack of chemistry have been weak.
