Morrowind - how to get widescreen support
« on: February 26, 2019, 05:14:00 PM »
So I can only get 4:3 resolutions in Morrowind GOTY. Any clues how to get widescreen support? Is it possible?

You're gonna need some 3rd party support. You'd want it anyway to pretty up the game.

Mods, mods, and more mods! I'm literally 2 minutes from heading to bed so all I can drop right now is this:
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/41102

That's the MW graphics extender that gives you widescreen and a host of other things. But it's just the tip of the iceberg.

I'd say to start here: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Morrowind_graphics_guide

You'll end up with Morrowind that looks as good as Skyrim. More or less.

Whilst I'd go with what Pixel is recommending, even the Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 does a fantastic job of updating the game graphics and enabling widescreen support. However, the Overhaul is a bit dated now (2012 release) and you can do a better job of improving the game via the links recommended.

I would also consider looking at Tamriel Rebuilt, which adds the mainland province of Morrowind to the game, expanding the world beyond Vvardenfell. This is still a long term project but, they have added a huge amount of content.
