The Argument Chamber / Re: Democratic challengers for next year
« on: February 12, 2020, 09:27:06 PM »
Well when November comes you basically have to chose, 4 years of Trump (assuming he doesn't die of natural causes) or someone in the other party that isn't Trump.    There will be many who don't have their favourite get their name on it.  Hopefully you write in the good box.

There is a phrase in politics here about "eating dead rats"  Something you'd been against in the past, hurts and is uncomfortable to change your position, but sometimes you have to do it as its the lesser evil.

I'd sort of heard talk of this game in the last few years, now you can buy it on early access.   I can see already at least 3 forumites have it, what is your experience with it so far?

Helps to fill the hype train with no idea of a release date or no D4 news in a while.

So hows it going now?  I hear 2 dropped out recently, a guy Yang I'd heard of, and someone else I'd never heard of.   Now I see another I didn't recognise is out too.  I've looked at a list and reckon that Tom guy will go next.

I think they are in a hurry so they can get back to grinding hundreds of runs for loot in Borderlands 3.

Speedruns donít even touch the car. They use this physics glitch where you pick up and item and someone begin flying if you do it right... between that and a thing where trying to slow people down who ran too fast so they thought ďif the player is running to fast. Then ADD backwards speed to slow them down! Result. Speed runner run BACKWARDS and have a way to go much faster with more acceleration than ever intended!

The other night I pushed on with water hazard, my driving and aiming seemed a little off, but I didn't go to many side areas.  Eli's lab sorta sucks after lots of playthroughs.  You are just waiting for the next dialogue so you can get outside and move onwards.   I did Ravenholm with only the gravity gun for old times, was fun.  Wasn't sure where I would stop with the buggy.  Ended up further than I thought I would.

That bit with the bridge you go under, then later drive on top and race the train .. well someone decided to change that encounter.  It seems you can no longer beat it, and the train hits you and kills you, even if you appear to beat it.

You now have to drive out, trigger the train, back up, let it pass, then drive along and out.  Its boring as hell.  All my other playthroughs, you'd just drive, hear the train coming, hit turbo and see the train coming, you see the gap and its a massive game of chicken, but i'd get out, always .. it seemed riskier than it was.  I later looked up and found many others had the same problem.

Oh well saved and quit for that night just after that.  Next time will have to park it, get the antlions/nova prospect etc.  Some great content ahead!

Over the last days I finished blue shift, then back to half life 1 but on easy. Blew through the whole game in two sittings :) then tonight half life uplink (demo) and really that was a trip down memory lane. Short but sweet. Then fired up opposing force. Boot camp is a lot of fun. Did 9 of the 12 chapters.  Next time Iíll finish that and check out decay before getting to half life 2

Study is just around the corner so will be a run on easy

A comment from Mitt Romney

"In the last several weeks, I have received numerous calls and texts. Many demand that, in their words, ďI stand with the team.Ē "

For regular people, that behaviour would be a criminal act for interfering with a Jury, and it would have consequences

Got past that fight ok, phew, made fast progress, got up to Xen, no real hard parts, I knew the route, didn't go to too many side rooms.  Got to Gonarch and after the 2nd wave of the fight .. and the game completely broke.  I've NEVER had that before, but on the forums quite a few others had.  Seems if you go to an optional healing pool, the boss loses track of you.  The problem is the boss MUST move to a section .. to die in another section and open the next bit.

I once got it to work, got through .. and died.  I forgot to save and there was no auto save.

The few quick saves and auto saves are all bugged.  I tried changing the map (worked) no guns etc, couldnt' get commands to give me things .. sigh.

so fired up blue shift.  Did the training course and started the 4th of 8 chapters.  God this game is the low point of the series.  Its mainly sparse and not as much effort as they put into Opposing Force.

General Discussion / Re: Aussie Bushfires
« on: January 29, 2020, 10:38:22 AM »
Yeah I had been considering a post about this a while back. Sounds like the number of fires and shear volume of land burnt is just insane compared to previous years and at least 6 times the size burnt in the Amazon rain forest.

I saw this video which freaked me out
One moment the fire is in the distance while they are driving in something that appears post apocalyptic. Next thing the fire is ON them and everywhere. Apparently if the temperature reaches a certain point everything flammable just ignites.

Amazing how those trucks are built!

Here in nz we have had smoke blow over from the bushfires and itís just an annoyance but Iíve never remembered that in any other year.
Also the average temperature in all of My country vs Australia is just so much less even though some bits latitude is the same
