In summary, this:

I think its unfair to say we think we had ownership of the story.  We just expected better than the trash writing we've been subjected to in recent seasons.

Whilst this wasn't as bad as some of the other episodes this season, it still felt like pretty bad fan fiction:
  • Why was Bronn master of coin other than to please fans? It didn't make sense in the context of him threatening Tyrion nor having any any skills in the area
  • Why was Sam Grand Maester other than to please fans? He hadn't even trained yet.
  • Why didn't Yara throw an absolute fit when Sansa decided the North wasn't going to be in the Seven Kingdoms. The Greyjoys have also wanted to be independent the whole time.  It didn't make sense for Bran to allow this because he immediately puts at risk the unity of the remaining six.
  • How long was Tormund going to wait at the wall just in case Jon wanted to pop up?
  • If Bran popped down because he knew he was going to be King, he must have seen this all coming. Yet he didn't warn anyone about the razing of King's Landing? He's the true evil of this show.
  • Where the hell did all those Unsullied and Dothraki come from? Didn't they all die a few episodes ago.
  • Why didn't Jon Snow just say Daenarys got angry, burned the throne and flew off on her dragon? Oh wait this one makes sense, it's because Jon is a fucking idiot.

I'm sure if GRRM ever gets round to finishing the book the ending will make a lot more sense!

I definitely disagree. After the tv series passed the books the writing has been atrocious. I joked back last season that they'd got the intern in to do some of the episodes. Now I think the intern might be in charge.

I've generally found the writing in these last few seasons absolutely terrible compared to the early ones, but Tim is right - there will at least be a lot of memes!

Had this trailer appear before End Game today.  The TIE scene at the start feels dumber every time I watch it.  Maybe it will make more sense in the context of the film itself, but its JJ Abrhams so I won't hold on much hope for that.

Have also seen it.  Tried to get it in as quickly as possible to avoid spoilers.

Isn't half of Monster Hunter crafting? The other half being killing monsters in order to get crafting materials.

It's almost like we all have different tastes in films!

For my position.  I don't think TLJ was a bad film as such, but for me it was a bad Star Wars film and it is riddled with plot holes - most of all I have a lot of problems with the overall story arch of the new trilogy.

All that said, I'm not going to say anything about people who enjoyed it.  We all enjoy different things and we all get to decide individually if we are Star Wars fans or not :)

Damn... I must be the only one that thought this looked meh. Is jumping the TIE the new jumping the shark?

I'll happily wait for the steam release. Will likely start to get cheaper by then too!

Interesting news item on why this is potentially bad for gaming:

I can see why they did it though and it kind of answers Lego's question.  If you play 3 without playing 2 or 1 you are going to be totally lost.  4 however can be played pretty much completely without knowing about 1-3.  Sure there are references back to those games so you'll get more out of it if you have, but it is perfectly playable without.  As such, by slapping a 4 on it they may have lost the audience who haven't played 1-3.
