How involved is the flying mechanic?  I played Elite Dangerous which was really interesting but a pain in the ass to learn.  Trying to land took time to learn to control the ship as an example.  And without the joystick you were left with awkward controls with keyboard and mouse.

It's super easy, although I'd say most of my time has been spent on the planet so far.  Landing you pretty much press 'E' when you are somewhat near the ground and the ship sorts itself out.  Space stations you just fly straight at the entrance and autopilot takes over.  I'm playing completely M+K but I can see it would be just as easy with a controller.  This is definitely not a space sim.

Turned out I had to change a setting in some config file and enable full screen rather than borderless full screen - now its running at a sweet 144 fps! I can finally play...

I ended up playing for about 30 minutes, but then my friend encouraged me to try No Man's Sky again and I've got really into that.  By really into I mean I've played 6 hours of it - which is a lot of gaming time for me these days  ;D

Trailer for new Fable game. This is f'ing hilarious. I love it.

Actually kind of interested in Fable now Peter Molyneux is not involved! I thought the first one failed to live up to all its promises (which is the Molyneux way) and I subsequently didn't bother with 2 or 3.

Looks cool. I have no faith in Obsidian's ability to do open-world after New Vegas and The Outer Worlds were so bad, but if they keep it tight it could be really good.

Obsidian sure is cranking out games right now, aren't they? They have Grounded coming out next week and that looks just amazing - I'm buying that day 1.

What Pixie meant to write was:  Fallout New Vegas and Outer Worlds are actually the best Bethseda games, even though Bethseda didn't make them.  Fallout 3/4 and the Elder Scrolls series just aren't nearly as interesting.

It was quite the typo!

About half-way through Valkyria Chronicles 4.  The reviews said it was "exactly like Valkyria Chronicles 1", which is pretty much true, for better or worse.  It's remarkably story-heavy, with 6-10 cutscenes between most battles, and the characters are relatively strong.  VC1 had one of the best love stories I've seen in a video game, and VC4 seems to be heading that way.

There are still parts of the gameplay that I consider "objectively bad game design", where save scumming or restarts are required because of the lack of information given before a battle and that you're primarily judged by how quickly and flawlessly you finish them.  When a mission/map is designed well it's an excellent strategy game, but if you don't already know what the enemy layout and composition is your team may not be right to finish the map "on time" for the best rewards, and the progression EXPECTS you to ace every mission to have enough XP and Money to keep up with enemy upgrades (the difference between finishing a map, for example, in 5 turns versus 8 turns could be literally losing 3/4ths of your XP/Money), otherwise you're forced to replay missions again and again to make up what you lost.

I really enjoyed the start of VC1, but the more I discovered that it is completely a puzzle game rather than a squad strategy game I lost quite some interest :(

In what is now my long running Fallout 76 saga/monologue I did manage to get the game to launch just before heading to bed, but now it runs at around 15fps.  Will see if I can work out what is causing that tomorrow.  You can't say I don't give a game a chance  ;D

Yeah, the gamepass version seems to be fucked for some reason.

Does seem a bit of an own goal.  There's probably a lot of people like myself who were put off by the initial release but had heard good things about the recent updates and are wanting to give it a shot.  This will undoubtedly put people off :(

Hmmm turns out it was already installed on the same drive as my OS.  Ho hum!

Well Fallout 76 on PC Game Pass seems to be a mess.  First it wouldn't let me play due to some error on privacy settings.  Gave up launching through the Xbox App and instead just from start menu and now get some error about not being able to connect to servers (NoRegionPing).  Had a little google and apparently some people have had success by installing it on the same drive as the OS, but I already can't be bothered :/

I see Fallout 76 is coming to PC Game Pass.  I can find out what all Pixie's hype is about!

I never finished BG1 and never played BG2 at all. I believe I picked up D2 and Baldur's Gate at around the same time and we all know how that turned out.  I should probably rectify this.

I really enjoyed Heavy Rain at the time. No idea how well it has aged! It's a really unique experience.

Finished FF7R... consider my mind blown.

I have also finished and it was so much better than I ever hoped it would be. Criticisms by angry redditers that think SE is fleecing players for only a portion of a game need to play the game I think.
