This is still mine, mostly because a lot of other communities have died off as well.  I got involved with 1up and Gametrailers right before they both were bought out by IGN, and the communities of USGamer/Retronauts and EasyAllies (their replacements) are not that big either.  I occasionally look at Neogaf for what people in the industry really think about certain games, but I don't have an account there.  I like the "concept" behind people working in an industry having a place to connect with people within that industry, but Neogaf is a little too public for that (despite its entry barrier).

I don't really need a community specifically for my gaming, so I'd rather go where people appreciate (or at least tolerate...) my random postings.

This is my only forum.

I go to other ones for information but they never stuck.

Forums do seem to be a dying concept these days.  In general trying to get new blood who will stay and while and listen, and post is hard.  We need to be careful to keep our existing folk as much as we can.  We are generally there for each other and get each other.

This brings me onto some unexpected kindness I found this morning:

Supermatt has purchased Diablo III: Rise of the Necromancer for you as a gift!

Thanks Matt.  Looks like I'll be around for that next season!

GAF is back up after two days of downtime while Evilore was busy concocting a statement, but it feels like walking through a disaster zone right now. The general discussion sections put up a semblance of looking active, but people are still being banned for asking questions about what happened when they're not being shouted down by people who want to "just focus on games" and "wait for the facts" - both of which were bannable things to say just a couple of weeks ago when the Harvey Weinstein case broke. The community sections are straight up dead, despite really being the heart of the forum in the past.

I'm not sure how long the positivity over at ResetEra is going to last, but as of now, it seems pretty healthy and the staff seems to be genuinely trying to make things work.
