Some controversy from the SPF
« on: September 07, 2017, 06:45:39 PM »
Some of you may still read the SPF and have seen this, others might not, but there has been a bit of controversy on some new stuff, and like older times, it has caused a bit of a rift.  Please note all of this is publicly visible.  I'm just putting a few bits of information in one place.

This time the main mod (Thyiad) wasn't happy with the direction of things.  Keep in mind the rules there are basically a dictatorship vs consensus driven.  Unlike here, they do have an active D2 community still, but its smaller than it used to be.

FYI there are two more recent things people may not know of.
1) "Hybrid Rares"   Get a rare item in an old classic version.  Bring it straight to a very recent version.  It does some interesting things with the stats and CAN make very power things, but odds are low. Possibly uber gear 500+% ED on a weapon  Due to this, a decision was made they can't be traded https://www.diabloii.net/forums/threads/pre-lod-trading-no-longer-accepted.950867/
2) The D2X beta I mentioned.

Have a look at some of these

You have the mod stating her view of the world, having a go at those who don't match that view, equating new ideas with breaking the rules/foundations of the place, and finally shutting down any ability for replies.

That later spawned this reply which is now 100 posts long
https://www.diabloii.net/forums/threads/the-spf-i-know.952249/

Almost 80 pages into that Thyiad replies again

What do you think?

That whatever drama does or does not exist on another forum needs to stay on that forum.

Yes of course.

We do have one of two lurking/semi active.  I just wanted to PSA to them.

The way we do/did things, and the lack of new rabble meant we never needed such strong rules/mods for over a decade I'd say.

I'm honestly kind of surprised people care that much to make a fuss.  Or rather, I'm not surprised the moderators there are the type of people that get offended easily and want to lay down the law since they've always been like that, I'm just surprised there are other people there fighting back after all this time.

The alternative is you can't talk about what you actually do in game in basically the only active forum left.  Perhaps it might spark another .. something I dunno.  I was shocked when I read it all.

I'm pleased to have the opportunity to use one of my favourite emoticons for the first time: \_(ツ)_/

It seems a bit ridiculous though, especially if it is the only active community left. I understand people accept different levels for purity, but if you're that much of a hardliner you should be playing self-found anyway. Accept that people play in different ways and let them enjoy it!

Somebody re-post this everywhere in all of the places please.
And give Mikrobe a cookie and a cigar.
