Dear Sssith and Dave,

Please feel free to screw yourself at great length, in your respective rectum-holes, with various and sundry instruments of death and ickyness.  Please allow me to suggest the tire iron, the chain saw, the samurai sword, the length of rusty pipe and the underage, herpes-ridden duck-billed platypus.

Love always,

I knew this would effectively summon you out of the nether regions of the internet.

I'm nothing if not predictable.   ;)

So I finished up an Anthology called Urban enemies.  The stories therein are all told from the point of view of the bad guys in popular urban fantasy series.  Authors include such favorites of mine as Jim Butcher, Kelley Armstrong, Sean McGuire and Carrie Vaughn. It wasn't bad. Wasn't fantastic, but a small cut above the normal anthology drivel.  I'd hand this one a 3.5.
I also FINALLY got the next book in the Urban Shaman series.  Demon Hunts, by C.E. Murphy was a lot of fun, and I'd say it was slightly more well put together than the last of her books.  This one I'd hand a 4.5, the upgrade being mostly due to increased cohesiveness of the plot.

And now that I have that book, I can read the other 3 Urban Shaman books I've had languishing in my library for months.  I'm well into the next one already.   ;D

So the latest Seanan McGuire book came out - The Brightest Fell, which is an October Daye novel.  It's a whole lot of fun and also contains a novella at the end focused on a minor character, April O'Leary, who is a Dryad who lost her tree and was grafted into a dying server along with pieces of said tree before either died - making a new species.  The novella was actually even more fun than the Novel.  5/5 for sheer fun.

I want to see  a picture of Kim from NK taking a knee watching some NFL.  Imagine Trumps reaction to that.  Doesn't even need to fire a missile

Kim Jon Un is a psycho...
But that would be amazing.
 ;D ;D ;D

I'm totally stealing that and posting it on Facebook.
EDIT: Which I did... but I went back and gave Timinator credit.   ;D

I watched IT.  IT was better than I expected it to be.  (That could get confusing really fast)
Considering IT is one of my two favorite books of all time, I'll never find a movie adaptation as good as the book.   But I was pleased overall - far moreso than the turd they called a made for TV movie.

Caught The Hitman's Bodyguard a while back and I don't know if I mentioned it.  It was crude, raunchy, overly violent, and vaguely ridiculous.  So basically it was exactly what I was expecting.  So yes, that was just fine with me.  Ryan Reynolds telling a random vendor that Sam Jackson's character has basically ruined the phrase 'motherfucker' forever was delightfully tongue-in-cheek... but don't expect anything deep.

Oh, and my wife bought me Trolls.  Shut up!  It's delightful and cute and fun.  I watched it twice.   8) ;D

Quote from: Donald J. Trump
The scourge of our planet today is a small group of rogue regimes that violate every principle on which the United Nations is based. They respect neither their own citizens nor the sovereign rights of their countries. If the righteous many do not confront the wicked few, then evil will triumph. When decent people and nations become bystanders to history, the forces of destruction only gather power and strength.

You know, I could have sworn that was the very argument being made to bring impeachment proceedings against Trump...

I'm curious about who will howl about this...
I preferred the original theatrical version to the director's cut.  Yes, with the voice over.
Granted, I don't actually CARE if you agree...
But I'm curious.  :p

So we're two weeks in and I haven't heard anyone have a fit yet.  That just seems wrong somehow.  Any impressions?  Thoughts?  Opinions on Zeke Elliot, The Patriots, The Saints, or anything else you'd like to share?

My particular interest is The Steelers, of course.  I'm not thrilled about the start of the season despite the 2-0 record. Sure, it's better than playing fantastic and being 0-2, but the team just looked... flat.  Le'Veon Bell's absence from training camp was fantastically obvious, although he had a much better game in game 2 than 1.  It'll be interesting to see if he continues to improve and is back to his old self by game 3 or 4.  As for Antonio Brown....  *shakes head*  Yeah, that dude is a diva in front of the camera, but he's a ridiculously talented one, and one who works his ass off at practice, unlike most divas.  Ben's just the same as he always is.

So NFL.  Go.

While waiting for the next Urban Shaman book to arrive from the shipping limbo it had been (and still is) lost in, I read the last book in the Cainsville series, by Kelley Armstrong: Rituals.  4/5.  It was nicely written as others were, but the end felt forced.  Honestly I liked it, but was left a bit unsatisfied.  I wasn't even sure that it WAS the last book until the very last pages.  But whatever - decent series with a hurried ending.
