Well I am slowly getting more competent, though I still basically suck.  Landing is still a bitch for me, and I imagine if I had a HOTAS it would be a bit easier.  I completed about 3 three missions today.

The image below shows a shinny on the right that I did not investigate.   I am wondering if when things pop up on the radar if I should figure out what they are.  Still in the process learning what I should be doing in different circumstances.

hmm...that is a tad big. fixxored

Took me a while to remember that I had to be facing a certain way before the landing lock happens.  I haven't been able to play for a couple of weeks and it is amazing how I forgot some basic details.

We need Drozz in here.  That would make for a worthy debate.

How can there be a debate when I am obviously right?  ???

Expansion is out today, and the original game is $7.50 on Steam.  You can pick up both together for ~$25 today.

I need to get back to the game.  Between this and Elite Dangerous I have a full plate.

Funny I didn't pick up on the first movie's religious over tones.  But there is a certain dying for your sins vibe now that you point it out.

This issue just screams hypocrisy for me.

"I'm 'Murican!  I shit freedom!", they shout.

Freedom...what the fuck does it mean if you tell me that I am not allowed to peacefully protest something?

This idea that the only way to be patriotic is to venerate the military is so wrong that it leaves me dumbfounded.

Freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion.  This to me is what the flag stands for.  Our military is not what the flag should be about.

I am a US veteran.  I joined the military in part to support those freedoms.  I did it so people can have the right to peacefully protest.

The United States has lost its way.  We used to be leaders in so many different areas, not the least of which was freedom.  Now we telling our people that they can't protest an injustice?  That is the antithesis of freedom.  It is the height of hypocrisy.

The Jets win again, destroying Sssith's dream of getting the #1 pick in the draft.

And now a third win.  My point however, was not so much about getting the top pick.  It is more about playing with a old QB who is not going to be around in a years time.  I want to see if either Petty or Hackenberg have the potential to be the QB of the future.  The Jets are not going to win the Superbowl.  So what is the point of winning games with a 38 year old QB?

On the positive side I am seeing huge improvements in how the Jets are being coached.  That is a huge deal.  We have a lot of new, young, players playing well.  That is a huge deal.  Our draft class seems to be a good one.  That is great news.

But until we have a QB we are going to be playing catch up.

First of all I finally got around to watching Blade Runner: The Final Cut.  I very much enjoyed it but, other than the lack of narration, I did not find it to be that different.  Though the lack of narration completely changes the tone of the movie.  It is tough for me to say whether it is better or worse since I can hear the narration playing in my head anyway.  It seemed to make the movie move more slowly and be a lot more subtle.  Not sure if someone new to the movie would feel lost or not watching it.

Then I got to watch the new version of the movie.  Without giving away details I would say that I was somewhat surprised by the direction of the movie.  There was a subtle religious overtone to the movie that was unexpected.  Many of the same themes were explored.  While the pacing was deliberately slow I thought the movie moved well enough for being so long.  The story built to a steady crescendo, and by the end of movie you could start to really see the bigger picture of this Blade Runner universe.

Overall I really enjoyed it and thought it was a worthy successor to the original.  The original was much more visceral, while the new one took more time to develop it themes.  Huge thumbs ups from me.

Dear Sssith and Dave,

Please feel free to screw yourself at great length, in your respective rectum-holes, with various and sundry instruments of death and ickyness.  Please allow me to suggest the tire iron, the chain saw, the samurai sword, the length of rusty pipe and the underage, herpes-ridden duck-billed platypus.

Love always,

I knew this would effectively summon you out of the nether regions of the internet.
