In 4.5 years of this iteration of the forum, only these people have posted more than 100 times.  Only 22 others posted between 11-99.    But why is that? Its not a new thing from discord, but I'm wondering how much is with changing times.  In the early 2000s there was no social media, there were no smartphones.    Back then you were sitting in front of a computer, it was a deliberate thing you chose to go to a forum, it didn't look as bad as it does on a mobile device.  There was more content there, somethings only there.  Look at the amount of stuff on Youtube or other platforms.  Back then it was all typed and some pictures.

How much is due to our existing users moving on as passions or free time changes?
A lack of new people coming in is a factor too.

Wonder how much its "peaked" for its time.  I'm sure the newer generations aren't going to forums like we all did (multiple generations) in the mid 2000s.  I'm counting millenials, gen X, baby boomers in here.

And then we have the problem that forums are a permanent record till they aren't.
The backup is not working.  I have mentioned this to our faithful Admin, and I wait unable to do much.  I've had a look in the WayBackMachine.  Thousands of posts are available, but you can't easily find what you need.   As someone who is quite sentimental at times it makes me sad I can't go back to old stuff easily now.  The fact some of the stuff before is gone forever is a different story.  I'd love to see things from 2003 to mid 2004.

Hi Orbert

Sorry for the confusion, had no idea of the limitations to get them.

As for the 2012 thing, I was reminded of the HORRIBLE drop rates before Loot 2.0.

Link not working.

I think some of the key points I remember is that if you see the numbers/graphs that for rares/sets/uniques after a while diminishing returns hit hard .. so have some, but killing speed shouldn't be sacrificed for more MF after a certain point.
Its easier to stack it on a caster than melee etc.
doesn't work for runes/racks.

Ladder won't be available at launch, they will launch, make sure its stable, ladder pops up a bit after that.  Keep in mind previous "ladder only" content is everywhere now.  So ladder is more about an e-peen leaderboard or future fresh restarts.

So, many of you might be coming back for the first time in years.  I hope you are excited for later next week if you are starting fresh, or bringing some stuff over.

As for me, I have my "Operation Complete Normal".  Normal is both the most fun, and the most boring parts of the game.
Runewords.  After finally getting another Sur to make Beast, I'd love to complete the following this year.  Death (just need vex), Fortitude (need Lo). and stretch goals Beta CTA (need Ohm). Infinity needs two x Ber.    None of those are NEEDED by any characters, but the last 3 would buff anyone using them.

A grailer .. Its now been the longest time between grail finds.  Previously that was 1673 days from my Horizons in 2008 and Deaths Fathom in 2012.   Its currently 1996 days and counting.   Seeing Andy coming back and getting of bunch of grailers is inspiring.  Keep it up buddy!  I've had some TC87 luck myself .. just nothing new.

Another long term wish I have a new strategy for, racking a 1.07 Cranium Basher.  I was previously looking at Nilly's temple, but its loaded with monsters, the racks aren't stable and don't think it will work.  I'm looking at the Halls of Pain which I THINK only has one set of racks, but easy to find .. and not normally full of monsters.  If I do manage to get this, then I'd finally have one of everything gold and green pre 1.10.    Only downside to that is it would stop in 1.14 if i ever get a gold thundermaul that buzz of "I have a grailer .. but not sure which one!"

But the MAIN goal of all is to make it fun, and take breaks for other games at times too.

i've been making some more progress when i'm not looking for runes in LK.

Only 4 left in Act 2 now, 3 left in act 3 and 2 of those have started into the jungle which I despise.  4 in act 4, two of those just need big D.  2 more mid act 5 who need some levels/gear before the end!    I spent a bit of time muling some stuff around, its a bit harder in the early patches not supported by ATMA.

are you trying to get an item drop vs gamble with shards? or was there an upgrade from rare thing?  I think all options are features in game right?  Do you remember 2012.  I spent a few months before my first leg ever dropped

Sorc made me laugh the most

I wonder how many season passes they will have for it?

Yep, first one was amazing, hadn't seen anything like it.  2nd one he was superman, fights felt meaningless and then architect?  last one the main battle went on for too long

I've heard of some people who say to go back with different expectations and you can enjoy them on some level.  I like the feel of the trailer that he is Thomas Anderson again, he isn't a normal guy though.  Having that character develop would be good.

With my Javazon I will have to get insanely lucky with runes to make an infiinity.  I mean, you only need two Bers.  Three with the realization that if you find one you might want to make Enigma first.  That should be easy.   ::)

Yeah...LIs are going to be the Bane of my existence with the Javazon.

How long before some SP players are going to be duping runes?  *sigh*

This post needs a bit of a reality check.    Your build will be hell viable without any high runes at all. LIs will be a pain, but you also have physical damage options.  And thats how D2 was built.   I know you've played a whole lot of other games I haven't so I'm not sure how they do them, but you have a viable build that will slay large amounts of enemies quickly.  For LIs you have options of secondary attacks, or maybe you'll park them.  Maybe you'll save and quit and see if the boss rolls with something more favourable?

In the last couple of patches, rune drop rates have been tweaked MULTIPLE TIMES.  In 1.09 I never saw an UM or above and not from a lack of looking.  In 1.14 I've had a BER drop from pindles pack.  I've seen lots of other runes, LO, OHM, VEX, SUR etc.  Some just from playing normally, some from targetting things such as the Travincal pack, or I tried opening superchests in Lower Kurast.

I eventually made an enigma many years back without duping, and it is a thing of beauty .. but its not required at all.  I had a look, I have a skullders on mine, other options might be Fortitude (not too expensive)  El + Sol + Dol + Lo

Body Armor
20% Chance To Cast Level 15 Chilling Armor when Struck
+25% Faster Cast Rate
+300% Enhanced Damage
+200% Enhanced Defense
+15 Defense
+X To Life (Based on Character Level)*
Replenish Life +7
+5% To Maximum Lightning Resist
All Resistances +25-30 (varies)
Damage Reduced By 7
12% Damage Taken Goes To Mana
+1 To Light Radius

I'm yet to make infinity, its on my wishlist after Beast, and it will help out I'm sure.

I know some people have duped runes in the past, but you don't have to.  It comes down to matching your goals to your willingness to play.  Anecdotally, those who do dupe have a big buzz of getting to the destination, and then they normally burn out quickly.

Don't forget, we don't know HOW these will be able to spawn, but Anni and Torch will be available in SP now, check out these stats to help you.  All that res, attributes, skills will help move characters to another level, or give more options in other gear, you won't need to worry about resistance in gear/charms as much.

Small Charm
Required Level: 70
+1 To All Skills
+10-20 To All Attributes (varies)
All Resistances +10-20 (varies)
+5-10% To Experience Gained (varies)
(Only Spawns In Patch 1.10 or later)

Hellfire Torch*
Large Charm
Required Level: 75
5% Chance To Cast level 10 Firestorm* On Striking
+3 to Random Character Class Skills (varies)
+10-20 To All Attributes (varies)
All Resistances +10-20 (varies)
+8 To Light Radius
Level 30 Hydra (10 charges)
(Only Spawns In Patch 1.13 or later)

So .. bit of a reality check plus some optimism.  You are going to be having a LOT more fun than frustration.

They haven't yet mentioned what time its opening, so thats a big unknown.      I could potentially get it on Nintendo Switch, but I can't see myself wanting to do that as more than a casual thing .. and its probably too expensive for a casual thing.

Drozz: Grogs had a trapsin at 98 and going towards 99 when he stopped. There are a range of options for LI.   While not cheap, infinity lets you merc have conviction to break some LIs.  Between shadows and merc they can tank and kill some baddies, then Death Sentry can start doing corpse explosions for you.   Some of the other skills can stop monsters in their tracks the psychic things if you just want to walk past them :D
