We've got a robot controlled by a fascist newspaper editor given power by a readership of ignorant fools, and the most powerful faction of a fractured opposition is gathered behind a dithering naif. The checks and balances that give hope that Trump will end and be prevented from his worst excesses don't really exist. No-one in the UK is going to blab intelligence secrets to adversary powers, but they'll divide the country and cut themselves off from their neighbours well before Trump lays the first brick in his wall.

So we have to take 2 months out of the already impossibly short Brexit negotiations for a pointless snap election. Despite Labour looking slightly more coherent in the last week or so, there is basically no opposition and Brexit seems to have divided the country to almost Trumpian levels.

I keep up with the headlines, but I find I don't really care. I live in a Tory safe seat, so this FPP system means my vote counts for nothing (I try to tell myself that I'm lending weight to the argument for proportional representation), and in the nearly 10 years I've been here I've never felt more like a foreigner than after the Brexit referendum - I realised that I just don't understand the politics of this country.

Yes, it was a good session in the morning. My rebirthed barbarian managed to pick up a few good items from Matt's kills, then I rejoined the game with my WD and Matt and I did a full bounty run with Tim.

In the evening I improved my WD's best rift to GR62 and failed in my first attempt at 63, but it was a horrible map. By then I'd had enough shards for my barb to have gambled 5/6 of the Wastes set, so I used a RoRG in the cube and added two IK pieces and my only ancient weapon (Warmonger 2h sword) and whirled my way to GR52, all with only 2 leg gems neither of which was Taeguk. Right at the end of the session I rolled a socket in my last ring, got Taeguk to 25 and found a half decent IK weapon for the build, so GR55 should be right round the corner.

Cheers Matt. It would be good to team up if we can. I've done it all solo so far and there are still areas of obvious improvement that will get me further, but I foresee issues with some of the requirements, e.g. T13 speed rift and the second conquest (which I haven't thought about yet).

I ran GR50s to gain about 25 paragons to 498 and also level legendary gems, then did a tier 59 to get the gem to 50 and augmented my weapon. None of my other ancients are long-term keepers so I'm a bit reluctant to augment them but might have to to progress. But first I'll probably go back to a lower tier for a while and hope to gamble better items.

I had no deaths on the GR59 this time, so could probably do a 61 or 62 with a good map.

Is there a way to boost the number of goblins, e.g. particular areas to go to (I assume you don't do normal or greater rifts), or are you literally just running around hoping?

I got a couple of menagerists in quick succession recently and I wondered if they still spawn once you've collected all the pets (I don't know how many of those there are, though).
