Picked up Darkest Dungeon and Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition over the weekend.  Darkest Dungeons seems like it'll be fun for one go but the RNG is pretty heavy and requires much more of a grind than other Rogue-lites I've played.

I love Darkest Dungeon.

Been playing it a LOT and the RNG can be...frustrating. Took me a long time to finish the game the first time on 'Darkest' difficulty. Now I am doing that same difficulty with Crimson Court, after which I will do a Stygian run. The CC DLC makes the game somewhat harder.

Once you get a feel for party compositions and what skills to use where (for example, bleed is largely useless is The Ruins), the game gets easier and you actually feel like you can progress, rather than getting destroyed.

There's a huge amount of info available (I used the DD sub-Reddit) and I recommend using it to learn the basics, at least. Overall though, it's about mitigating RNG rape and bringing the best and most useful team to the dungeon you're tackling.

It IS grindy until you understand how to win, but later you can get through much faster, as such Stygian has a time and death limit, which I forget offhand. I honestly enjoy the grinding in this game though. :)

If anyone else is playing and wants to discuss/ask questions/etc, we could start a thread!

What y'all playing lately?

I've been mostly in D3 and some FTL. Getting bored now though and want a new game.

Been playing solo hell-chicken in GR60 for blood shards to gamble with my Necro lately. Actually miss playing multiplayer TBH. Best part of seasonal softcore is the ease of finding a group. I never see anyone else playing HC typically.

Also thanks to Hurtlocker for rushing me a necro to lvl 70 after I foolishly died in a corner to a multi-effect legendary :)

So I have the full Trag-Oul set.  Yeahies?!  The idea of doing a blood based build in HC just seems wrong.  My killing speed right now is abysmal (I actually fairly ok when I am just inundated with monsters).  So I need to change something up.  I guess I might as well go crazy and do a blood build.  Ultimately if anyone has advice on doing a blood build or how to boost my current build I would love to hear it.
Had the same thoughts about that set with my HC necro. Not quite completed so haven't tried it.  I think it's a matter of learning how to play the build properly. because I was (am) awful at necro, but getting the hang of it, so the class is getting easier to play in general. Doesn't seem as intuitive as the other classes IMO. I find the sets...weird, except Rathma which suits my style, I read it was overpowered, but eh looks the most fun.

Great idea Tim

Last game I bought was They Are Billions, which I am really enjoying.
It is an Early Access titles, only has a Survival mode at the moment. Basically a zombie apocalypse RTS which has a tower defense feeling as the enemies come in waves every so many days. The waves get more difficult so you have to balance your tech with expansion and military might.

Next on my list is XCOM2 DLC. Still hasn't come up for a reasonable price.

Working toward stash tab still.
I have done the GRs with six sets and the GR45 with no sets. Working on 3 gems at lvl55 now.

edit: I have the stash tab :)
Didn't realise I had so little left to do. Just needed one more gem upped 4 levels; to kill Aranae in 30 seconds; and reforge a legendary, which I apparently hadn't done yet :P

Probably won't do Guardian, reward looks lke a portrait fame and nothing else :( Hardest part would be gems to 70 though, as I have gotten half the others already.

Never used, not going to.
Any particular reason Tim?
I always had a negative view, mostly because the only people I knew that were users, were stereotypical lazy sacks of shit who watched TV all day. Once I found my comfortable limit, I started to see it a lot differently.

In New Zealand, they are talking about getting medical weed in very quick.  There is some discussion if this will be pharmaceutical or just let people grow their own.  There is supposed to be a referendum in 3 years time.
I'm pro-legalisation. BUT the issue has been muddied by stoners taking on the "medical use" argument to legalise their recreational drug of choice. I'm not sure if that detracts from the legitimate medical user's petition for legality, or if it's just 'more support=better'. I guess it doesn't really make a difference to me, I just don't like the subterfuge.

I know there are a LOT of people who have tried it at least once, there are a bunch of regular users
Me too. The thing is, every one I know had waaay too much for their first time. My first time was like 3 bowls because it was with seasoned stoners. I vomited all over their lounge room floor and was put off for a couple years.

The other issue is that many people have their first time when they are already drunk. If I get fairly drunk and have weed, the room spins and I spew.

I recommend trying small amounts, like 1/2 a bowl or a couple hits from a joint and appreciating the subtlety of the high. Too much at once is a ticket to chunder-town or couch-lock for me.

Though I do understand that it just isn't for everyone. I'm not one of those elitist types.

They might say "but alcohol is much worse!"
Alcohol is worse is many ways, but everything can be bad without moderation. Unless the same people are lobbying for alcohol to be illegal though, it's kind of irrelevant and they're rationalising.

The fact is if you take it, it can hurt your career prospects in some places, so is it worth it?
My company doesn't test for it, though many do. Even if it is legalised, it will most likely be an issue with many employers. I mean, I can't be drunk at work, have to be 0.00%BAC at all times. The problem with weed is that you return a positive result when you aren't currently affected/impaired.

This topic was lightly touched upon elsewhere in the forum, so I thought some of you might like to talk about it some more.

Not aiming for political controversy here of course, though I'm not dictating thread content either :)

I'm been a marijuana user on and off since about 18 years old. Started as recreational, lately it's more about pain relief. Most of the time I can manage alright with the pain I have, but sometimes it is nice to be pain-free for a few hours.

I strongly believe in MJ as an alternative medicine, but only for scientifically proven uses. I see claims of curing cancer and such, and I'm not on board with that, but pain relief and inflammation absolutely. Having said that, I don't actually care why people use it as it is their choice to do so, but if someone tells me it cures cancer I want to see the peer-reviewed study.

I've never been a daily user, nor do I use much at one time. I always aim for just-enough, which my stoner friend thinks is both 'weak' and amusing (all in good fun though). I don't enjoy being too stoned because I can't think straight, but there is a nice point I reach where obsessive worries are forgotten and 'normal' activities become more enjoyable (TV/games/socialising).

In Australia, it is all still very much illegal. I find it amusing that the U.S. is more progressive than us in this matter, since most Australians like to harp on about how great our healthcare is here compared to there. I'm very envious of the available strains and the quality you guys have in the States.

There was a time in Aus when owning 1-2 plants was 'decriminalised', meaning if you got busted it was confiscation and a $ fine, but no criminal record. Sadly this was repealed a few years ago, so I no longer cultivate. Though it is something I really enjoy doing.

That's all I have to say at the moment, hopefully you other MJ enthusiasts aren't too shy to speak up and have a chat about the magical herb.

Just figured out you can't leave the cube empty of powers.

The only way I believe, is to never assign anything. When I started a new character recently, I noted that there were no powers in the cube until I chose them. But seems well documented that they cannot be unassigned.

May be possible to choose something completely useless, with no drawbacks though?

I like the idea, reminds me of D2 classic, always looking for a better rare to use.
