talking to a lot of people around here (we live a couple miles from US bank stadium, i can see the stadium from work) that feel pretty much like this guy. no shame in losing to the pats in the SB, imo. ;)

finished season 2 of DD, luke cage, iron fist, and the defenders. DD was good, the others were ok. iron fist wasn't as bad as i'd heard and seemed of a piece with the defenders. also seemed like pretty much a direct lead-in to the latter, so glad i watched it. none of these were as good as season 1 of DD or jessica jones. seems like these shows are only as good as the villains, and kilgrave and the kingpin were great. probably gonna go with the punisher next, and season 2 of jones comes out in a month or so. will be surprised if that's as good as season 1 but here's hoping...

Trump defends his sanity in a series of tweets amid questions about his mental state

the onion, or a real news headline from a mainstream organization? no googling allowed.

Anyone try the new challenge rift for this week (crusader shield bash)?  This might be the worst one ever.

won't argue with that. definitely the worst of the few i've tried. spent less than a minute in this one and decided it wasn't worth it.

re the darkening of tristram: i think collecting the pages get you a portrait reward but they are not needed to enter the portal, which i don't think shows up until tomorrow. i don't think it's a particular risk for a HC necro. others can probably offer better necro advice than i can. most of the sets struck me as reasonably powerful, if not overly so; they buffed a couple other classes to make them comparable to the necro, iirc. also a lot of options for LoN builds, assuming you can gear enough ancient items.

i fell off updating this thread the last few months of last year, but it's easy to start fresh.

about a third of the way into Spoonbenders by Daryl Gregory. fiction (apparently inspired by Uri Geller), about of family of "psychics". skips back and forth between a couple timepoints-- the 60s when they were all the rage (guests on tv shows etc) to the 90s when they've fallen on harder times. not my usual thing but am enjoying it so far.

So my guess is that there is a technical reason. What that might be, I do not know.

lazy writing seems like the best guess. i don't see the need for mental gymnastics to explain it away.

agree w/ almost everything maxbeedo said. will probably see it one more time with one of my kids, but otherwise i don't think i'd even bother with a second viewing. read a while ago that abrams has replaced trevorrow (sp?) to direct the next one; too bad abrams couldn't do all three of them. he definitely has his faults but they aren't as bad as what happened here.

never noticed that cluckeye can actually shoot a chicken. had assumed the bonus was simply the sound effect. thank the joys of starting untwinked for this pearl of trivia.
