General Discussion / Re: Black Friday sales

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is still in stock at Target for $15 if you wanna save a bit more.

I missed that one. Oh well, what's $5? I still got it for a price I feel ok with. :)

General Discussion / Black Friday sales
« on: November 23, 2017, 07:55:58 AM »
Anyone scooping up anything cool?

I refuse to leave the house on Black Friday because screw that craziness. But I did dispatch a friend to Gamestop yesterday to pick up the new Uncharted for $20 for me. So far I haven't seen anything else that has compelled me to buy it, though I might maybe be tempted by a Ninja blender so I can properly blend all the blendable things...

Except that it totally was.

The path that EA took on this was bullshit of the absolute highest order and I'm glad it backfired on them to the point that it's being looked into as gambling disguised as a game.

It was pay-to-win taken to a ludicrous extreme.

They've temporarily removed the real money shop but it will be back once the furor fades, no doubt.

This sort of asshattery should not be supported or encouraged, and you should not buy this game.

The close range blasting sorcerer is like... stupidly overpowered. I've run a few and holy crap. The skills just synergize so damn well. All stamina, the hurricane skill, a clannfear for emergency healing and tanking bro-buddy, the sword/shield skill that reduces resistance... melee sorc ftw.

I just played it for like 8 straight hours.

It's purty good.

I'd consider it but... switching browsers used to be a quick n easy thing. But now I have all my extensions, and themes, and password manager, and etc to consider. It's just too much to bother with. I'll stick with Chrome, though I have heard good stuff about the latest Firefox.

What happens when a German game developer says "we should combine Fallout, Mass Effect, and Skyrim into one game."

It's pretty awesome. A bit janky but not as bad as previous Piranha Bytes games (Gothic, etc).

Axes, swords, plasma weapons, explosives, magic, psi powers, and chems all in one open-world RPG? Sign me up!

Worth checking out.

But if a game is terrible, free is too much!

Apparently the game really wants me to have two of every unique it gives me.

"Oh, Leoric's Crown. Neat."
"Huh. Another one. I guess Leoric mass produced these..."
"Goldwrap... And another Goldwrap..."

Last night I started a necromancer named Aeris. Also kind of re-learning how to play.

I don't expect to get far or accomplish much since I'm way too casual for season play, but whatever. I'll have fun with it while it lasts. :D

I am running through the campaign since I haven't done it with necro, plus I really have a hard time playing a game without some sort of structure to it. Just playing on hard for now, but I'll probably bump it up soon.

I haven't played this at all since they broke my nightblade build with the skill changes in the last big patch.

I'm still mad.

So I subbed to FF14 instead.

A few weeks ago you were asking why I'd sub to a terrible MMO like FF14! :D

Really? I must have been jesting. I've played/subbed FF14 off and on now for like a year?

I still think it's a heavily flawed mmo (and looks like poop on a stick), but it does a lot I like. It scratches an itch. Just not as well as ESO...

You could try Aspect of Terror from the Shadow line (I personally find fleeing enemies to be really annoying), or maybe Fire Rune/Volcanic Rune from the Mages Guild. Neither have great duration though.

There's also Tangling Webs from the Undaunted, but like me if you only solo then you probably don't have anything in that line. I don't like the concept of this one either.

I don't have any Undaunted for the reason you mention. I'm not high enough level for Aspect of Terror. This nightblade was still young in her career. That's why she enjoyed having that CC skill...
