The books are well worth reading.  I thoroughly enjoyed them and they do add a lot to playing W3.  I don't have much to say on builds though.

I mostly agree with the above, but your choices in W2 do have an impact in W3 in that different side quests and such are available.  In the grand scheme of the plot though, no those choices don't matter (I think).

Yes, I heard it was a Fallout Battle-Royale.  That combined with Fallout 4 not turning out quite as good as expected has led me to zero interest in this.

Finally got round to buying Rise of the Tomb Raider.  I might even play it at some point.

I found Xillia to be excellent. I never did get around to playing the second.

I looked at backloggery but bailed out when I saw I couldn't just import my steam catalogue :D

You need to make your steam profile public temporarily and then remove and add the link to it again to trigger the import.

Steam imports automatically. For the rest, that's manual :'(

I have to agree with some of the above.  I really liked the concept of the book, but I thought the writing was pretty terrible and the plot extremely convoluted. The puzzles would have been interesting, if the reader had some way to engage with them - but for the most part they were "Here is the problem, and here is a solution that you'd never have been able to work out".

I'd hoped the film would be much better, as it could have a tighter storyline and wouldn't suffer from shoddy prose.

Yeah I imagine I'm going to love it, but my backlog is just so crazy right now I'm just going to wait until I can pick it up crazy cheap!

I've still not played the second, despite really liking the first

Some stuff I would recommend:
  • The Adventure Zone - - A D&D podcast which is hilarious.  When I had it recommended to me I thought it would be really dull, but it's actually really great.  If you don't want to go through them rolling up their characters and such start on Episode 1.5
  • Designer Notes - - Soren Johnson (of Civ 4 and Offworld Trading Company) interviews various game designers.  Some of these are super interesting
  • Revisionist History - - Malcolm Gladwell goes back and looks at events in history that have either been overlooked or misunderstood.  Again, some super interesting one in here.  I really liked the one about Basketball even though I have no interest in the sport
  • Three Moves Ahead - - Basically a podcast dedicated to strategy games (mostly computer, sometimes board).  This is one of my favourite genres so I really like this podcast

Woop, got all 880 moons on Mario Odyssey so think I'm drawing a line under that!  Next I think I'll go back to Witcher 3 and maybe sprinkle in some Uncharted Lost Legacy.
